that directory, if you execute

mri_head -identify seqRecon_channel0_echo0_rep0-mag.mgh

the command will return

This identifies the file type of {{{seqRecon_channel0_echo0_rep0-mag.mgh}}}. Of course, this example is somewhat
trivial since the file type (MGH) is obvious from the file extension.
